The car

I wanted to build this car for so long, cause it has such an incredible story. This is the 1988 Jaguar XJR-9 LM, in it’s most iconic purple livery. This specific car, the #2, driven by Jan Lammers Johnny Dumfries and Andy Wallace, has only won 1 race, but that was no less than the 24houres of Le Mans. It was the first non-Porsche victory since 1980, an incredible performance. Even if you know what happened in the closing stages of the race. The gearbox broke, leaving only 4th gear available. Driving at that time was Jan, and he realised that is he shifted even once, the gearbox would blow up and the race would be over. So the closing stages, everything was done in 4th gear, even the pits.
It’s an astonishing car, powered by a 7.0L V12 engine based on the XJS road model, capable of 750HP. The rear wheels were covered to improve earodynamic efficiency, and ground effect was used to stick the car to the road surface. It won the constructors title as well as the drivers title in the world sportscar championship in 1988.

The model
This is my most complex model yet, it might look like a simple box, but there is more than meets the eye. After some feedback of the last couple models having stickers as headlights, I now have fully brickbuilt them, and most important shapes are brickbuilt as well. The rear is also interesting, sitting at a unique angle, and is locked in place by the venture tunnels sub assembly. The rear tires are full width ones, my goal was to not use skinner ones, as they are visible from the rear, you can remove the side panel to gain acces to them. A fun detail is that the exhaust tips are made from minifig revolvers, they just had the perfect look and angle. This model also includes two innovations:
The first model with a detailed engine
This is my first Le Mans model to include a full detailed engine, of the mighty V12 engine. The Peugeot 905 already had a suggestion of engine, but this has a fully detailed one, with the correct number of valves, and it is removable as well. If possible, I try to include an engine in these models, but sometimes Im limited with structural support (for the 905 e.g.)

The first model to include stickers for a minifig driver
Together with Brickstickershop we created 2 stickers to create a racing suit of one of the drivers of the car: Jan Lammers, who drove for 13 hours and secured the win. He is also one of my personal heroes, so I am glad to have him as a minifig. Keep in mind, a Minifig is NOT included in the parts list.

Stickers
The XJR-9 LM has 30 stickers, 28 for the car and 2 for a minifig. All stickers are pre-cut and numbered and will shortly be available HERE. This sheet also includes a specialized cockpit piece, just like the 905, that wraps around the sides.
