“My oh my, what difference 4 more years of experience can make! For those who have stuck with me for a long time, you may remember my old KTM X-Bow that I designed all the way in early 2021. It is a model that “back then” I was incredible proud of. But we live and we learn, and for the last few years the X-Bow has been nagging for a remake. And today is the day!
The main issues with my original where the high ride hight, cramped interior and the studs. So when I started working on my v02 I focusses mostly on working away these issues. I fixed the cramped interior and ridehight by switching to a standard Speed Champion base. The studs got eliminated with the help of some tiles and technic panels. Basically what it comes down to… this new version shares nothing with the og. Apart from the piece usage for the rollbars.
Safe to say, this is now one of my all time favs! Its a complex build, but also very fun and unique. I also managed to keep some key details that I already introduced in the original version, like the exposed push rod suspension. The model is also a lot stronger now. Though you have to be a little careful with the orange panels at the back. However since thats a part where you’ll never grab the car or put pressure, it shouldn’t be a problem. The model now also has room for 2 minifigs. Or one Jeremy Clarkson dressed in a raincoat.
