“Lego have gotten closer to the perfect playscale Millennium Falcon, but they’re not there yet, so here is my effort at improving last year’s The Rise of Skywalker Falcon.

Since the Force Awakens version the Falcon has come a long way, the proportions and detail are much better but I felt that the underside needed some attention and the top surface could do with some improvements. Here are the areas I’ve modified:

• Cockpit interior – lots more detail
• Rim and roof areas behind the cockpit tunnel
• Seating – it’s now on the other side but at least the seats face the right way!
• Turrets – more detailed
• Mandibles – thicker and now with some surface detail
• Hull top surface – lots more detail/greebling, mostly around the engine vents
• Hull underside – I added parts to create some bulk and the illusion of a lower surface when the ship is viewed from the side.

Lego’s method for building Falcons relies on a frame underneath to provide strength to the whole build. I scratched my head for months about how to best improve the underside and have the upper and lower surfaces of the dish peak over the rim, but I think the most accurate solution would be a complete rebuild which is something I didn’t fancy doing. This MOD is pretty simple, sticking to my method of mostly modifying the exterior rather than rebuilding, but I might give the rebuild a try one day 🙂

The whole MOD requires about 370 extra pieces and will cost around£/€/$50, some of the pieces like the 6×4 wedge plates are new and fairly expensive. The parts list on this page shows all pieces for the complete MOD but to give you some options I’ve included a downloadable Studio model of the ship. That’s in the instructions tab, you can easily identify the parts for each portion of the MOD and the instructions have a contents page too, so if all you want is the cockpit interior then its going to be a quick and easy process to get the parts ordered and the MOD built!

Below (left to right) are the original 75257 Falcon, the parts in this MOD that are either extra or repositioned and the complete modified set. I loved building the set and have enjoyed modifying it too but the process of doing the instructions in Studio was painfully hard on my old PC so I think I’ll be sticking to much smaller and simpler projects from now on. Thanks for checking this out though and I hope at least some of the MOD proves useful to you!
